Abstract: The aim of the series of lectures
is to introduce a proper measurement strategy in the time or frequency domain.
In practice, two fundamentally different measurement techniques are used. In
sampling oscilloscopes, using the stroboscopic principle, repeated
"voltage steps" are fed into the system to observe its response. Each
step has an infinite spectrum ~1/f.
On the contrary, in vector network analysers
(VNA), a sinusoidal signal feeding into the system is swept in a certain
frequency range (fstart, fstop) to
observe a dispersive response of the system.
The
program is divided into Two specialist parts which include:
1.Introduce how two different measurement
techniques —— the time and frequency domains, are realized at the instrumental
level.
2. Contact and free space microwave
measurements with applications to signal integrity,magneto-impedance sensors, and composite materials with the microwire
inclusions.
