Anniversary ceremony of the InCSI

The Anniversary Ceremony of the Institute for Composites Science Innovation (InCSI) of Zhejiang University was held on May 25th, 2016. Professor Song Yonghua, executive Vice President of Zhejiang University, and Professor Du Shanyi, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, President of China Society for Composites Materials and Qiushi professor of Zhejiang University, attended the ceremony and unveiled the institute plaque to celebrate the establishment one year ago. The event was hosted by professor Han Gaorong, Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering. 


Professor Zheng Yao, the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Professor Chen Hongzheng, Director of Polymer Composite Materials Institute, Professor Qu Shaoxing, Deputy Director of the Institute of Applied Mechanics, the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and over 50 academics and postgraduates participated in the launching ceremony and subsequent seminars.

InCSI Director Peng Huaxin gave a thank you speech


Prof. Peng Huaxin, National "Thousand-Talent Program" professor, founded the Institute for Composites Science Innovation with Professor Hong Zhanglian and Professor Wang Xiaoxiang. The institute collaborated with the State Key Laboratory of Silicon Materials, the Center of Electron Microscopy, the National Mechanics Experimental Demonstration Center of Zhejiang University and other platforms. The institute focuses on structural and functional integration of multifunctional composite materials. At present, the main research directions include the multifunctional composite structures and materials, ceramic thermal insulation composites, functional biomimetic composites, nanocomposites, composite mechanics and multi-field couplings, etc..



After one-year development, there are 7 professors in the research core team, as well as two associate professors, 5 postdoctoral, 30+ postgraduate students, and 3 overseas adjunct experts. 


After the ceremony, InCSI Director Peng Huaxin expressed his gratitude to the officals, staff members and students who supported the development of the Insituteand showed the participants a precious gift from his PhD supervisor, Prof. Du Shanyi. It is an inscription says The impregnable pass and endless road are as solid as ironnow firmly start of the long march over again
