International Collaboration on Advanced Composite Materials and Structures

The ZJU Overseas Academician Joint Lab for Advanced Composite Materials and Structures officially launched on 2nd December, 2019.

In order to engage with internationally renowned scholars, Zhejiang University (ZJU) has launched the Overseas Academician Engagement Program since September 2016 for strategically important areas. Advanced composite materials and structures are playing an increasingly important role in many industrial sectors nowadays, such as aerospace, transport and marine applications.


The Institute for Composites Science Innovation (InCSI) at ZJU has been forging ahead with establishing collaborations with international Centers of Excellence such as the Bristol Composites Institute (ACCIS) at the University of Bristol. The Overseas Academician Engagement Program has timely helped to capitalize on the existing collaborations with several strategic partners. The cooperation is expected promote the research and development of composites in the whole world. 


The core members of the Overseas Academician Joint Lab for Advanced Composite Materials and Structures are Professor Michael Wisnom from University of Bristol, Professor Yiu-Wing Mai from University of Sydney, Professor Kevin D. Potter, Professor Fabrizio Scarpa, Professor Bo Su from University of Bristol, UK and Professor Shuguang Li from University of Nottingham, UK, working together with outstanding academics and researchers of Zhejiang University.
